A trully great game for the PS3 from Insomniac’s Ratchet & Clank series. This action/platformer game has great graphics and great gameplay, while also keeping the fun, humor and weapons found in earlier Ratchet & Clank games. (Released on October 27, 2009)

Burnout Paradise

PS3 Gran Turismo 5 XL Edition

Category: Racing
Rated: Everyone

Gran Turismo 5 XL is a great racing game for the PS3. This game features around 1000 different cars thanks to great customization. Race in plenty of real life tracks as well as many fictitious ones. (Released on January 17, 2012)

Valkyria Chronicles

Category: Role Playing Games (RPG)
Rated: Teen

Valkyria Chronicles is an RPG with a deep story, where Welkin and members of the 7th platoon fight for free. The gameplay is a mix of real time strategy and turn based RPG, with action components. It takes some learning but its well worth it. Graphics are beautiful and have a strong anime influence to them. If you like RPGs with a great story, and if you like anime, you should definitely check out this game. (Released on November 4, 2008)

Resonance of Fate

Category: Role Playing Games (RPG)
Rated: Teen

Resonance of Fate is a very particular role playing game (RPG). The story revolves around a giant clock machine and how it can affect the fate of everyone. One aspect to highlight about this game is the high level of customization of your characters. You can even change their looks, and these changes also reflect in cutscenes. The graphics are excellent too. The combat system is more like that of a real time strategy game, though. And some people complain that the combat systems takes a bit getting used to, but is overall considered to be an enjoyable gameplay system once you get the hang of it. However, if you are looking for a deep and involving story, this game might not be for you, since it is more gameplay-oriented. (Released on March 16, 2010)

Sleeping Dogs

New release!
Category: Action / Guns / Sandbox / 3RD Person
Rated: Mature

This is a third person game with an open world and lots of weapons, racing, and more. Grand Theft Auto lovers will probably like this game also. This game follows the adventure of Chinese-American police agent Wei Shen as he infiltrates a crime organization in Hong Kong. The game lets you explore plenty, and features top quality graphics. (Released on August 14, 2012)

Fallout: New Vegas

Category: Action / Guns / Sandbox
Rated: Mature

This is a game with many places to see and explore. You get to make your own decisions in how to achieve your goals. Depending on how you play you get to be the “good” guy or the “bad” guy, or even a mix of both. (Released on October 21, 2010)

This is a good game, however, some people consider that it is kind of short.

Grand Theft Auto IV

Category: Action / Guns / Sandbox
Rated: Mature

Grand Theft Auto IV (or GTA IV or GTA 4) for PlayStation 3 follows the story of Niko Bellic in Liberty City. The game has great graphics and great gameplay, and this is a whole brand new Liberty City waiting to be discovered. Wide variety of guns. (Released on April 29, 2008)

Resistance: Fall Of Man

Category: First Person Shooter
Rating: Mature

This is a FPS (First Person Shooter) game for the PS3. The player has to fight against aliens who are quickly seizing control of the Earth. The gameplay is simply great, and there are lots of weapons and powerups. If you like FPS games and haven’t tried this one yet, then you are missing out. (Released on November 13, 2006)

Bioshock

Category: First Person Shooter (FPS) / Includes some RPG and survival aspects too
Rated: Mature

In this game you follow the adventures of Jack, whose plane crashes in the sea and he finds himself in the lost city of Rapture. The game has heavy science fiction components, as it involves genetic engineering to improve your protagonist as he further unravels the mystery of Rapture, all the while shooting up strange monsters. There are lots of upgrades for you to choose from, so you can pretty much play in your style. (Released on October 21, 2008)

Demon’s Souls

Category: Action / RPG
Rating: Mature

This is an action RPG game where you go around slaying monsters and demons. However, be warned, while the game is good, it is also challenging and even a bit old school from a gameplay point of view. For example, if you lose, you are returned to the beginning of the level. But there is a lot to explore, see, and do in this game. (Released on October 6, 2009)

This game is hard. Only for people who really want a challenge.
